Tips for Successful Online Advertising

Do you advertise online?   Advertising online can be very gratifying.   It brings quick responses, and provides quick performance measures not only of sales through your pages, but of traffic, how well your ad copy is converting prospects, and how much traffic your landing pages are getting.

There are 3 popular ways of putting your ad online...

  • Text or Hybrid Text ads.  A text ad is a 3-line text ad with your Landing Page URL and a   hybrid text ad is the same, but with a picture next to it (such as a Facebook ad).

  • Email Solo ads.  There are text and html email solo ads, and text (shown below) have a higher open rate as they are more easily delivered, but html look more professional (best to test both).

  • Banner ads (shown below).   http://addesigner.com  will allow you to create your own banner ads.  Or you can get referrals from others on Twitter or Facebook for a graphic designer to create your ads, or pay to have someone from  http://odesk.com  or  http://elance.com create your ads.

Find your niche to target with your ad...  Who do you relate to?  What is your background?  What professionals can you target with your product?  What geographical areas will your product reach?

Once you have a niche idea, plug it into a keyword tool like the Google Adwords External Keyword Tool  and generate keywords to use in your ads and to help you know where to place your ads.  Use a couple of these keywords to locate sites to plug your ads by putting them in Google and seeing what sites come up first.

Click on the top sites and see if they allow advertising.

Here's a list of great sites for you to advertise on (keep in mind the internet changes frequently, and so may these links):

Expect to pay $.20 - $3.00 per click (CPC) (depending on the site you're advertising on) or  $1.00 - $10.00 per 1,000 impressions (CPM).  But CPM has slower results.  Also, expect to spend  25-50% of your profits on advertising if you're just starting out.  As you become more experienced, ads will cost less, but still expect to pay out 25-35% of your profits to be successful.

Hope this has helped.  Drop me a line in the comments section below and share your ad experiences.

        To your Success!
