Well, I did it...amidst all my "life chatter" of my son returning for the summer from college, all the red tape I jumped through in taking some time off my Ph.D., classes I started, and some new work I took on, I put off setting up my new blog and posting to this one. In doing so...I've seen a drop in my Facebook visits, a drop in my Twitter followers, and a drop in my social media contacts all around.
How about you? Are you a faithful blogger, speaking value to your friends and followers and pumping them full of good will? Or have you become lackadaisical about your blog, letting it hang out there like I did, like a limp, lifeless and now meaningless picture online?
Ever wonder how those who have a huge following and large business online do it?...how they make it and succeed and gain so many followers? It's through putting out great CONTENT day after day, consistently sharing of themselves and their knowledge, that they draw those followings. Great online presences like those of Jonathan Budd , Katie Frieling, or even Tony Robbins, all have consistently shared of themselves through blogging, and videos and other media.
It's much like my conversation with my son recently. He was just accepted into Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. Their School of Foreign Service program is top in the world, not even rivaled by Harvard. He was accepted as a transfer student from George Washington University (located just blocks away from GU). He had applied with a number of friends from GW, and they all have high GPA's and look like great students on paper.
So...what did my son have that the others do not? He shares of himself on a regular basis. Any kid can be paper smart and come out with straight A's, but not every kid has a heart that makes him want to share his knowledge and gifts with others to help see others grow, but he does. He stays involved in community service projects, working with handi-capped children, led a political chapter all through high school that he led through a myriad of service projects, he tutors others, at GW he naturally seemed to fall into a leader position in a fraternity and began helping his chapter and wrote for the GW newspaper...
He shared of himself over and over, and, my friends, that's why content and blogging is so important! It's a way to share of yourself and enrich the lives of others.
I can share with you name after name of successful people online, and I could share with you tool after tool and formula after formula they've used until it makes your head spin and you would feel overwhelmed. But none of that is the crux of their success... All of them have that one thing in common - CONTENT. They consistently share of themselves daily, helping others, uplifiting others, teaching others.
How are you sharing what you know with others? How are you enriching the lives of those around you?
Would love for you to share your thoughts with me below in the comments area!
To your success,
Thea
