Time Management

Hello again! I just finished listening to several sessions with Jeffrey Combs, and they were so great, I have to share some of it with you! And if you're not familiar with Jeff, I suggest you look up his website and his products.

Jeff and his wife run Golden Mastermind Seminars, Inc. and he offers coaching, retreats with him and his wife, offering incredible breakthroughs, and other products to help you towards success. In these sessions, he spoke about time management and reasons we procrastinate...

Have you ever met someone who continually tells you they don't have time? Of course, you have... Well, according to Jeff, these are people who are addicted to being "right" all the time. Consider this...if someone wants everything perfect, to be absolutely accurate with everything they do and say (a perfectionist) they will put off doing things that high acheivers will do to attain their goals, simply because they fear they can't do them "perfectly."

Thus, good managers of time are people who have mastered their emotions. They are people who when doubts or fears pop up, will push the doubts and fears aside for the good of accomplishing their tasks. They will work towards goals undistracted...thus, these people also have voice mails and emails, etc., that pile up as they will avoid all distractions while accomplishing their goals.

To a good time manager, any step made in the direction of accomplishing his/her goal is motivating and satisfying, but to the perfectionist or someone ruled by his/her emotions, only perfection will satisfy and a step towards the goal may be viewed with criticism and dismay rather than feeling proud they're moving ahead.

A few commonalities high acheivers (good managers of time) have are:
1. They stick to a routine.
2. They make to-do lists.
3. They set out to do a job the best they're able to, short of demanding perfection.
4. They accomplish tasks as quickly as possible.
5. They limit distractions

So...if you find yourself among those that refuses to accomplish tasks you are concerned will not be perfect, I would direct you to Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich book. Read this, and if you've read it and still are having trouble overcoming doubts and fears, read it again. What we let enter our mind and stay there is so important for us being able to succeed! Thinking positively, and managing our emotions and thoughts is one of the most important keys to managing time and accomplishing our goals.

Watch my next blogs for more on managing time and our emotions... How about you? Do you have some great tips for us in doing either? Look forward to hearing from any of you...

To your success,

Thea
