Develop a Positive Mindset First
I hope that with the past few blogs on independence, you're beginning to get a sense of the strong mindset that is needed to hang in there and make your independence happen for you! Have you read Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich? If not, I highly advise it to help you along into that great, successful mindset!
I've never ceased to be awed by the brain and it's power through all the schooling and reasearch I've done into it and the workings of it...it's relation to our behavior and so much more. Yet, none of it has even begun to shed light on the energy and attraction of our thoughts like Napoleon does in his work. Napoleon says that the object of his book is "to help all who seek it, to learn the art of changing their minds from FAILURE CONSCIOUSNESS to SUCCESS CONSCIOUSNESS."
So...if you're not there already, if you don't live and breath your success and keep in your mind at all times that success and a picture of what it looks like to you, please read Napoleon's book and decide what success is to you and wrap your mind around it so tightly that you haven't room for defeat or others' negativity. Then you're ready to decide on that path of yours to independence. What is your path? Have you found it yet?
Now, Find your Path to Independence
If not, maybe I can share a few things to help you find that path of yours after spending some time finding mine. First of all, I'd like to dispell the "passion" myth. Sure, if you have a passion for something and can put that to great use right off to make yourself the income you're in need of to reach your independence, than by all means, go for it! Anything you enjoy doing and can do well, will definitely help you go far much quicker than any other method. But that's mainly because enjoying it will help you stay with it and be more persistent and regular with it. But keep in mind that anything you do regularly, you will master in time.
So... if you're feeling a bit clueless about the whole thing, feeling like you don't know how to do something that can bring in the income, you're not sure what your talents or skills are that are marketable, you're not alone! And there's still plenty you can do!
First, you may very well have hidden talents and knowledge you can put to good use and bring to the surface to market. Ask your friends and family what you're good at and what you do that helps them or blesses them in some way, if you're not sure what your talents are. The opportunities of earning an income from home are wide open for all kinds of interests and talents!
For instance, if you enjoy helping people and you know can write well, you can begin writing articles and reports on subjects that will help others and selling them online or sell your writing skills to people who need them to "ghost" write articles for them. If you are crafty and creative, there's a huge market for unique purses and clothing and baskets. If you enjoy dogs, and especially if you live in the city, you have a huge market of people who would love to have you regularly walk their dogs or dog-sit. You're only limited by your own visions and creativity. Here's a link to a nice site with 20 home business ideas that may be helpful http://bit.ly/aDcPkJ
However, my choice was to go online. I'm at my computer a lot anyway with research for my Ph.D. and work, and felt it a comfortable fit to work in something on my computer. If you'd rather stay with the computer and work online, there are numerous reputable businesses here that you can become involved with. But when looking for something on the internet, be careful to check them out.
Sound Business Opportunity or Scam?
When you find a home business opportunity online, google them. Read the reviews and ads you find about that company. Learn all you can about the company before you join. Use the same common sense to check out an online venture as you would to check out a typical employer you might consider working for. Do they have good or bad reviews online? Are there any complaints against them with the Better Business Bureau?
Do the ads that drew you to the company sound too good to be true...do they entice you with the illusion of lots of money for no work? Just as I mentioned in my other blogs on independence, you should be ready to work for your independence. Be prepared to face a learning curve, to have to learn the way of the business upfront before you start earning. Any real business online will let you know of that work up front along with the earning possibilities. Watch in my next blogs for more information on the different types of opportunities out there...
Have you found your path yet? If you have, will you share about it here for others to see?
To your success!
Thea
